    Dec 08,  · Heavy bass strings in the 70's? Hell nah, but sabbaths bass tuned to C# too. Thats why he had such a super light touch right by the neck pickup, to get a deep sound, sabbath bass is pretty mellow, back then aggressive loud bass either wasnt as normal or he just didnt think of or didnt like using that technique with picking near the bridge. Like.

    May 31,  · The Bass of Doom is the same bass that Jaco famously ripped the frets out of with a butter knife, filled the gaps with Plastic Wood, and refinished the neck to convert it to a fretless. It is also the same bass that Jaco reportedly smashed after an argument in the mid ‘80s and was glued back together from over 15 pieces by his luthier, Kevin.
